Whether you’re considering purchasing a longarm, planning to rent one, or already own a machine and want a better understanding of the fundamentals, this hands-on class provides a practical introduction to longarm quilting. What you’ll learn during this one-hour class, we’ll cover the core skills needed to confidently operate a longarm quilting machine.

Topics include:

• Longarm machine controls and basic operation
• Winding and installing bobbins
• Proper needle installation
• Basic machine maintenance
• Loading a quilt onto the frame
• Understanding quilting tension
• Adjusting tension for improved stitch quality
• Basic machine movement and quilting techniques
• Common beginner mistakes and how to avoid them

Hands-On Learning:

This is not a lecture-style class. Students will have the opportunity to work directly with a longarm quilting machine while learning the fundamentals of operation, loading, threading, tension adjustment, and quilting. Our goal is to help you leave with the confidence needed to continue learning and quilting on your own.
