Kristen Clark We got a chance to get to know Gretter RM and hear more about her collection for the Spring 2024 Season of Omaha Fashion Week and what inspires her as a designer. When we asked her about her creative process and how she got started sewing and designing clothes, she had this to say:
“My creative journey started in Cuba, where I began designing clothes at a young age, inspired by my grandmother’s skills and playing with iconic dolls like Bratz, Monster High, and paper dolls. These experiences ignited my love for fashion.”
We asked her to tell us about where she finds her inspiration:
“As a designer, I draw inspiration from personal expression rather than specific fashion icons. Each piece in my collection is a reflection of my unique perspective and creative vision.”
Her unique creativity shines bright with this collection. Her pieces capture a playfully feminine silhouette, but are uniquely her own. Her creative foundation was laid down in her childhood, when she played with and dressed dolls. Anyone wearing her pieces would immediately feel that light hearted and imaginative spirit.
We asked her about her inspiration for her most recent collection, seen at Omaha Fashion Week and she replied:
“For my OFW Spring 2024 collection, I found inspiration in femininity and delicate pastel shades, stepping out of my comfort zone to explore the beauty of colors. The collection is a heartfelt homage to the beauty of flowers and women.”
When it comes to her experience participating in OFW, she replied:
“Being a part of Omaha Fashion Week was a fun and fulfilling experience. I enjoyed meeting new people who share my passion for fashion. It provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase my work and connect with fellow enthusiasts in the industry.”
Her experience at Omaha Fashion Week seems to echo the experiences of other up and coming designers, in that it’s a very positive environment that encourages growth as both an artist, business owner, but also as member of the greater fashion community and industry at large. Designers are immersed in a fully supported habitat of fashion. Omaha Fashion Week provides models for designers, and the beauty alliance is there to help bring the designer’s vision to life on the runway. Designers gain valuable feedback, opportunities, and freedom to express themselves with Omaha Fashion Week.
