FAQ
The sewing machine was working, but now the needle won't move up and down.Start with the controls and mechanisms that can stop needle movement.
Check to see if your bobbin winder is engaged.
How do I put my bobbin in?Correct bobbin installation depends on the bobbin system in your machine.
On most machines the bobbin should be installed so that it turns counterclockwise when you pull on the thread.
The thread is looping on the bottom side of the fabric.Loops underneath the fabric often point to a problem with the upper threading or tension.
Check that the thread is properly threaded through the tension assembly. If the machine is threaded properly try adjusting the tension to a higher setting.
My fabric isn't feeding through the machine.Check the feed system, stitch settings, presser foot, and other common causes of feeding problems.
First check that your drop feed is not activated. Then verify that the stitch length adjustment is set properly. This can also be caused by excessive lint build up around the feed dogs.
The sewing machine is abnormally noisy.New or unusual noises are worth investigating before continuing to sew.
This can be few things, but the first and easiest thing to check is that the machine is properly oiled with Sewing Machine Oil.
The sewing machine isn't picking up the thread below the fabric.A machine that won't form a stitch can have problems with threading, the needle, bobbin setup, or machine timing.
There are a few different things that can cause this issue. Start by checking that the needle is inserted into the machine in the proper orientation. Turning the hand wheel the wrong direction can also cause this scenario. Always turn the hand wheel towards the front. If the issue persists after checking both of these, your machine might be out of time. This will require more major work, and is a great time to take advantage of our offer for a free service estimate.
