The Singer Model 185 was sold under the Spartan name at Singer dealers. It was almost identical to the 3/4 size Singer Model 99.ย To make the Spartan a more affordable option than the 99, some things were simplified.ย The base and case were traded for a simple plastic base, the Singerlight and Singer badge on the front were removed, and the graphics simplified to name a few things. The important bits on the inside however were left unchanged.
This machine came to us with its original motor damaged so we added an EM190 Motor Kit giving this budget beauty from yesteryear a modern easy to control electronic foot control, simple one plug connection and even a bit more pep to it’s step!ย Of course it has also been freshly serviced to ensure that it is ready to go!
The finish is in good condition but has a bit of character to hint at this machines past use.ย There are a few scratches in the bed of the machine and the paint is a bit thin in this area as well.ย The most amazing part about this machine is the base.ย Finding a Spartan with a base that isn’t cracked or crumbling is a feat that even Indiana Jones would like choose not to take on.ย This one however is in great shape with only a few scratches as seen in the pictures.
As always the machine and base will be shipped separately to avoid shipping damage to the base.
