The 2026 Block Challenge is designed to be a fun, manageable, and inspiring long-term project. The challenge officially kicks off on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026! You will receive one brand-new block pattern from Riley Blake each week when you sign up for the Riley Blake Newsletter, ensuring that the pace is slow-and-steady, which keeps the project enjoyable and stress-free. To help you manage your time, the last week of every month is a designated catch-up week—a perfect time to sew up any blocks you missed, get ahead, or just take a well-deserved break! The finished sampler quilt will be comprised of 16 unique, 10-inch blocks.
Kit or Stash? You Choose!
One of the best things about the RBD Block Challenge is the flexibility it offers, giving you two great ways to participate. Firstly, if you want to make the exact gorgeous quilt shown by Riley Blake Designs, fabric kits are available for pre-order now in two stunning versions: Confetti Cotton Solids for a bright, clean, and classic look, or Expressions Batiks for a rich, textured, and vibrant quilt. Purchasing a kit makes participation effortless, as all the fabrics you need for the quilt top and binding are included!
Alternatively, if you’re looking to make this sampler truly your own, feel free to dive into your personal fabric stash!
